Roni Sousa é diretor de cinema e teatro, doutorando em Cinema e Televisão pela Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, mestre em Artes Cênicas pela mesma instituição e licenciado em Interpretação Teatral pela Faculdade Dulcina de Moraes. Sua criação transita entre as artes da cena e do audiovisual, explorando memória, fabulação e as representações das periferias urbanas brasileiras.
Com mais de dez anos de trajetória artística, apresentou trabalhos em festivais nacionais e internacionais, como o Festival Política (Portugal). Em 2024, estreou o espetáculo Outro Lear, apoiado pelo Fundo de Apoio à Cultura do Distrito Federal e apresentado no Teatro Invenção Brasileira e no Sesc Paulo Autran (Taguatinga/DF), no qual investiga memória e esquecimento a partir do clássico shakespeariano.
No cinema, realiza o curta-metragem Fogo Abismo (2025), que irá estrear no 58º Festival de Brasilia do Cinema Brasileiro, trabalho que entrelaça arquivos fotográficos pessoais e fabulações para revisitar a infância na Vila Rabelo, uma das maiores ocupações de Brasília. Entre afetos, ausências, fogo e resistência, sua obra constrói narrativas íntimas que refletem sobre pertencimento, identidade e a potência cultural das margens da capital.

Roni Sousa is a film and theater director, PhD candidate in Cinema and Television at NOVA University Lisbon, with a Master’s degree in Performing Arts from the same institution and a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Performance from Faculdade Dulcina de Moraes. His creative work moves between the performing and audiovisual arts, exploring memory, fabulation, and representations of Brazilian urban peripheries.
With over ten years of artistic trajectory, he has presented works at national and international festivals, such as the Festival Política (Portugal). In 2024, he premiered the play Outro Lear, supported by the Federal District’s Cultural Support Fund and presented at Teatro Invenção Brasileira and Sesc Paulo Autran (Taguatinga/DF), in which he investigates memory and forgetting through Shakespeare’s classic.
In cinema, he directed the short film Fogo Abismo (2025), which will premiere at the 58th Brasília Festival of Brazilian Cinema. The work intertwines personal photographic archives and fabulations to revisit his childhood in Vila Rabelo, one of the largest settlements in Brasília. Moving between affections, absences, fire, and resistance, his work builds intimate narratives that reflect on belonging, identity, and the cultural power of the margins of the capital.
