Roni Sousa é ator, cineasta e pesquisador brasileiro, com atuação também como dramaturgo e diretor teatral. Nascido em Pernambuco e criado na Vila Rabelo, comunidade periférica de Sobradinho II, vive entre Brasília e Lisboa. Com formação em teatro e cinema, estudou em Brasília, Lisboa e Bordeaux.
É mestre em Artes Cênicas pela Universidade NOVA de Lisboa e doutorando em Ciências da Comunicação — Cinema e Televisão na NOVA FCSH, onde pesquisa cinema, comunidade e práticas de criação partilhada. Sua trajetória articula criação artística e investigação acadêmica, explorando memória, território, pertencimento e as representações das periferias urbanas.
No cinema, dirigiu Fogo Abismo (2025), único filme do Distrito Federal selecionado para a Mostra Competitiva Nacional do 58º Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro. No teatro, é autor e intérprete do solo Príncipe do Guetoe diretor do espetáculo Outro Lear. Seus trabalhos aproximam experiência pessoal e memória coletiva, afirmando a periferia não apenas como tema ou cenário, mas como espaço de criação, autoria e produção de conhecimento.

Roni Sousa is a Brazilian actor, filmmaker, and researcher who also works as a playwright and theatre director. Born in Pernambuco and raised in Vila Rabelo, a peripheral community in Sobradinho II, he lives and works between Brasília and Lisbon. With a background in theatre and film, he has studied in Brasília, Lisbon, and Bordeaux.
He holds a master’s degree in Performing Arts from NOVA University Lisbon and is currently a PhD candidate in Communication Sciences — Cinema and Television at NOVA FCSH, where he researches cinema, community, and collaborative creative practices. His work brings together artistic creation and academic research, exploring memory, territory, belonging, and representations of urban peripheries.
In film, he directed Fire Abyss (Fogo Abismo, 2025), the only film from Brazil’s Federal District selected for the National Competition of the 58th Brasília Film Festival. In theatre, he is the writer and performer of the solo piece Prince of the Ghetto (Príncipe do Gueto) and the director of Another Lear (Outro Lear). His works bring personal experience into dialogue with collective memory, affirming the periphery not merely as a subject or setting, but as a space of creation, authorship, and knowledge production.
